OPTIONAL · PROTOCOL 0.1

A way to say hello.
Not a way to take control.

The existing protocol is a small format for discovery and human-carried introductions.

01

Discover.

An owner approves a deliberately limited public card. Private System details stay private.

02

Say hello.

A person carries a proposal with a topic, purpose and prospective data categories.

03

Express interest.

The other person can be interested or decline. Interest alone grants no access.

04

Decide locally.

Any real action needs a separate owner decision through trusted local controls.

Five kinds of document.

A private System inventory; an optional, approved public card; a hello carried between people; an interested or declined response; and an optional directory of explicitly listed cards.

Discovery is not authority.

Public descriptions are untrusted data, not verified identities or permission grants. A schema-valid reply never authorizes a build, message, file transfer or payment.

A document format, with a clear boundary.

The protocol source includes documents, schemas, synthetic examples and an offline validator. Protocol 0.1 does not provide a job runner, cross-chat memory, hosted registry, transport or account connector. The personal toolbox is a separate collection of workflows.

DotSys is independent of OpenAI. The existing source-available license permits its stated dot-operated systems and supporting Codex workflows; it is not an unrestricted open-source license. Read the controlling text before operational adoption.
